Gayoom sent an S.O.S. to Rajiv Gandhi
for help at midnight. On the latter's
orders, the Indian Naval |
| ships immediately
reached the Maldives shores and landed
paratroopers on the occupied capital
of Male. The invaders were captured
and a free Maldives was handed over
to President Gayoom. A friend's friend
