| Harish Chander was born in prepartition Punjab. His father Mr. Dwarka Nath Chugh, was freedom fighter. After the partition, the family migrated to Haryana. He began compiling memorable incidents from Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru’s life based on interesting anecdotes narrated to him by Nehru’s household staff. These little known stories were later compiled in a book form and the book titled “Manavta Ke Prateek-Pt. Nehru” won the ‘National Award’ instituted by the Human Resource Development Ministry. This book was released by Prime Minister Sh. Rajiv Gandhi on 27th February, 1989. Harish Chander has written interview based books on the following national leaders- “Dr. Lohia ki Kahani- Unke Sathion Ki Zubani”(Vol-I & II), “Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee-Samkalin Drishti Mein” & “Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee-A Contemporary Study”, “Symbol of Humanity-Nehru”, which is translated version of above mentioned Hindi Book, “Rajiv Gandhi-Many Facets”, which has been widely reviewed and debated by the media and “Satguru Pratap Singh Ki Alokik Kathayen”. Later compiled and edited interview based book on Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao titled “P.V.Narasimha Rao-Biographical Glimpses”. The present volume on Rajiv Gandhi covers his human angle, as narrated by people who were close to him. Rajiv Gandhi would remain a legend and this kind of literature would inspire future generations. We have uploaded audio recorded memoirs of several persons in this web site. Biographer has no personal interest or motive in developing this web site. It is purly out of love and respect for Shri Rajiv Gandhi that he ventured to spend decades of labour into development of this web site. |

Mrs. Padmini the Co-author of the book, hails from Maharashtra. She married Mr. Harish Chander in 1966 and has since been a source of great inspiration to her husband in his literary pursuits. She helped Mr. Harish Chander in writing the books on Pandit Nehru, Dr. Lohia-“Dr. Lohia Ki Kahani-Unke Sathion Ki Zubani”, and “Symbol of Humanity-Nehru”. She has fully participated in completing this project on former Prime Minister of India. |
