| Sanjay
Gandhi had flown Ghulam Nabi Azad in
his small Cessna four seater plane to
Srinagar on 26th March,1980 for the
latter's marriage. But bad weather did
not allow them to return to Delhi till
the 29th, where Prime Minister Mrs.
Indira Gandhi was to attend the marriage
reception. A dare-devil Sanjay flew
them back, bride and all, defying bad
weather warnings. And, unfortunately,
the same plane crashed the very next
day on another flight to Jaipur. An
angered Rajiv Gandhi, a trained pilot
himself, gave a piece of his mind to
Azad at the marriage reception. |
