POOR PEOPLE'S MASSIAH

When Rajiv Gandhi got the information about serious draught condition in Rajasthan, he rushed to Rajasthan to assess the situation personnaly. Chief Minister and the officers charted out a different route for the Prime Minister, so that he would not able to see plight of poor people living in Jhuggi Jhopri(hutmen's). Rajiv Gandhi was smart and understood their intention. he drove his car from opposite direction and entered locality of poor and down trodden people. He entered a mud hut and introduced himself to a old lady saying,"Chachi, I am Rajiv Gandhi,I am hungry, can you give me something to eat?"Old woman said,"My family has not eaten for two days as we have no ration available in our house. I am sorry, I am unable to offer you any food". Rajiv Gandhi checked her empty handias and was shocked to see the plight of poor people, who had to remain hungry for days. He gave instructions to make food available immediately. Later he sent lot of money from Government to Anganwadi workers directly, so that help was distributed directly to the poor people without wasting time.
