Rajiv Gandhi alongwith his family members was returning from Dehradun one evening, he himself driving his Contessa with PSO Kaushik's car just behind him. Near Muzaffarnagar, he saw a head-on collision, with all the six occupants of a Maruti car seriously injured. Rajiv stopped his car and asked his PSO to take all the injured persons to a hospital in Dehradun. Rajiv himself helped in lifting the injured in the additional security cars which had arrived by then. For Rajiv Gandhi and his three other family members, all in 'Z' plus security category, saving other lives was the priority.
